Why is colonizing Mars with 80,000 rich people 20 years from now a more important pursuit than making sure everyone on Earth is fed? Doesn’t this billionaire realize 25,000 people die of poverty every day?
Why is building sustainable housing and growing food on Mars for rich people more important than building sustainable housing and growing food for everyone on Earth? Doesn’t this billionaire realize that half the world is in poverty with insufficient housing?
“At Mars, you can start a self-sustaining civilization and grow it into something really big,’ he told the Royal Aeronautical Society in London last week while awarded the society’s gold medal for his contribution to the commercialization of space.”
What about establishing a self-sustaining civilization on Earth first?
In spite of Humanity claiming to be an ‘intelligent species’ and an ‘advanced civilization’, it would seem that human beings are not intelligent enough to realize that the world we live in does not consist of only billionaires and millionaires in a futuristic utupia — but that 80% — yes 80% of the ENTIRE world’s population lives on less than $10 a day. A latte costs about $3-4 dollars just to put that in perspective.
“…passengers would be sent to work, carrying with them equipment to build sustainable housing on the dusty and currently barren soil for future generations. “
So let me get this straight — we’re planning a sustainable civilization on Mars for future generations of people that will live on Mars?
What about the future generations on Earth?
Why is colonizing space seen as intelligent behavior, when it seems to me that an actual Intelligent life form would make sure all life forms on Earth have the best possible life as the basic starting point for civilization?
This goes to show that no matter how much college education you have, no matter how much business experience you have, no matter how many billions of dollars you make — this does not mean you are intelligent. I mean, would it make sense for a body to organize its circulatory system to provide enough blood to only 20% of the cells, and then have those cells dedicate themselves to coming up with ways to leave the body and colonize another body, as their own body is deteriorating? Or would it make sense for those cells to redesign the circulatory system to provide all cells of the body with an Equally effective amount of blood? Isn’t this basic common sense?
I suggest if you understand that Intelligence should be the Intelli-Sense of that which produces solutions to ensure all life forms on Earth are supported, that you join us at Equal Money, and show your vote for Policies that will ensure a sustainable and comfortable experience for all beings on Earth. www.equalmoney.org
